Ontario College Support Staff Labour Negotiations

Last updated: September 2, 2025

Full-time college support staff represented by OPSEU are currently in labour negotiations with the College Employer Council (CEC), the provincial bargaining agent for the colleges.

OPSEU has announced that full-time college support staff will begin a labour disruption on September 11 if an agreement isn't reached by this date. A labour disruption could impact application response times, as well as some services at the colleges.

For its part, the CEC has asked OPSEU to agree to independent third-party arbitration to avoid a labour disruption.

Information for Guidance Counsellors

We understand that students may have concerns about the effects of a potential labour disruption on their college applications. OCAS will continue to send applications and student grades to the colleges as usual. However, individual colleges may experience delays in responding to applicants if their support staff are involved in the labour disruption.

We encourage applicants to monitor updates from their chosen colleges and contact admissions offices with specific questions.
