Adjusted Data Transmission Schedule for Fall 2021 Programs
Updated: September 29, 2020
For schools and learners across the province, the current school year brings a unique set of circumstances and we recognize the need for flexibility. In collaboration with our college partners and in consultation with the Ministry of Education, we’re working to accommodate the various scheduling models implemented at school boards province-wide.
What’s Changed?
To provide high schools and school boards with greater flexibility for transmitting marks throughout the school year, we’ve adjusted the data transmission schedule for student marks and enrolment data.
The updated schedule is available in the Fall 2021 Important Dates document posted on the OCAS website. Notable changes include the introduction of target dates for data transmission, allowing numerous opportunities for high schools / school boards to submit marks as they become available.
What’s the Impact?
Ontario’s colleges are assuring schools and students that the varying scheduling models will have no impact on admissions processes, as colleges will continue to receive student enrolment data from OCAS on the standard dates.
The colleges understand that students and their families may have concerns that the timing of the school year’s final quadmester will disadvantage them when it comes to receiving offers of admission to their chosen college programs. Colleges will make conditional offers of admission using final Grade 11 marks, as well as the Grade 12 enrolment data received in the fall.
Regardless of the semester model, it’s important that schools / boards provide projected course enrolments for the entire school year for graduating Grade 12 students no later than November 20, 2020. Schools / boards should work with their vendors to ensure any changes to timetables and reporting can be sent to us by the identified deadlines.
Next Steps
As circumstances evolve, we will continue to work with colleges and the Ministry to review and adjust as necessary and will keep you informed of any changes. We will share any further updates on the OCAS website.
